Mr John Peter Amewu, Founder of Hohoe United Football Club (HUFC), a Hohoe-based football club, says football is not only about winning matches.
He said football was also about building character, creating opportunities and fostering unity.
Mr Amewu in an address during the inauguration of the reconstituted Board of the Club said the Club was formed as a unity club and also to demonstrate the rationale behind the traditional council.
He said Hohoe had become one of the busiest economic centres nationwide with a quadruple population due to development efforts of the traditional authorities.
Mr Amewu said HUFC was not just a club but a group with a common identity to transform lives and to keep on changing lives.
He said the Club was based on tourism aside from football to help transform the enclave.
Mr Amewu congratulated the Board and added that it had a big responsibility of making sure that the Club within three years was able to represent Ghana in football competitions.
He said the Club belonged to the players, the board and the entire Hohoe community.
Mr Amewu said as a founder, he pledged continuous support and guidance and further called on the fans to rally behind the Club for its success.
The members of the board are Mr Daniel Soglo, Chairman, Mr Chris Baku, Mr Danquah, Mr Dela Gadzanku, Mr Vincent Kuagbenu and Madam Emelia Adzimah.
The rest are Mr Edem Ansah, Seyram Alhassan, Mr Sammy Crabbe, Mr Martin Ayisi, Mr Joseph Homenya and Sedzi Sedzi Ametornu.
The Club successfully joined the Ghana Premiere League competition this year and had gained two points out of two games played so far.
