The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group of Companies. Apostle Safo, affectionately known as the “Star of Africa,” died on Thursday, September 11, 2025, after a short illness.

In a statement issued by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP described the late Apostle as an extraordinary leader, philanthropist, inventor, and industrialist whose ingenuity and innovations embodied the African spirit of resilience and creativity.

Apostle Safo was widely recognised for his groundbreaking contributions to technology, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Through the KOSA network of companies and Kantanka Automobile, he championed Ghana’s drive toward industrialisation with a focus on homegrown solutions and innovations.

The NPP also highlighted his political significance, noting his unwavering support for the Party, particularly in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, where his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, served three terms in Parliament on the Party’s ticket.

“The NPP is deeply saddened by his passing and extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the Kristo Asafo Mission. The Party also commiserates with the rest of the nation for the painful loss of this extraordinary, illustrious citizen,” the statement read.

The party concluded with a message of prayer and strength for the family, urging the nation to honour Apostle Safo’s memory and contributions.

Apostle Safo leaves behind a remarkable legacy as a religious leader, industrialist, and innovator whose vision and works will continue to inspire generations.

His death has triggered an outpouring of grief and reflection, not only within the Kristo Asafo Mission he founded, but across the nation he inspired through his dazzling blend of faith, invention, and self-reliance.
