Most occupants managed to rescue themselves with the help of passersby before the rescue team arrived.
Firefighters extricated two trapped persons who were suspected dead.
The injured, including a child and the truck driver, have been confirmed by the police.

Central Region

The road has been cleared and reopened to traffic with support from other stakeholders.
The cause of the accident is yet to be established.

Last month, at least five people lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the Kumasi to Accra highway, at Asuboi near Suhum in the Eastern Region.

Central Region

According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2025, when a passenger vehicle with registration number GW-5535-24 tyre burst. The impact left several victims trapped in the wreckage.

Reports stated that the bus was speeding when one of its tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control and crash.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the National Ambulance Service rushed to the scene to rescue survivors and convey the injured to the Suhum Government Hospital.

Central Region

Sadly, five individuals were confirmed dead on the spot, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the deceased, but investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The accident caused significant traffic on the busy highway, leaving many commuters stranded for hours as emergency workers cleared the wreckage.

This tragedy adds to the growing concerns about the frequency of accidents on the Kumasi–Accra highway, particularly around the Asuboi stretch, which has long been described as an accident-prone zone.
