The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results and the subsequent school placement process are nearing completion.
According to WAEC, a total of 603,328 BECE candidates sat for this year’s exams, out of which 451,797 qualified for placement into Senior High Schools through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) after releasing the results.
However, 17,898 examination papers were withheld due to suspected malpractice.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has urged parents and candidates to take immediate steps as the placement exercise draws closer. These include confirming result status, completing the self-placement process where necessary, and ensuring all actions are finalised before the deadline.
For students who are not automatically matched with their preferred schools, the Self-Placement Module will be available.
Candidates will have the option to choose schools based on region, residential preference, institution, and programme of choice.
WAEC also announced that inquiries and support services are accessible via WhatsApp on 0205550942, a free service set up to assist parents and candidates during the placement process.
In a statement, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John R. Kapi, extended management’s best wishes to all candidates, encouraging them to remain positive as they prepare to transition into Senior High School.
