Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a visit to President John Dramani Mahama to console him following the recent helicopter crash that has drawn national attention.

The visit was marked by warm but solemn exchanges. Dr. Bawumia expressed his deep sympathy over the tragic incident and assured the president of his prayers and support during this difficult time.

Although details of their private conversation remain undisclosed, sources close to both leaders indicated that the meeting was cordial and reflected a shared concern over the safety of all Ghanaians, particularly those serving in challenging environments.

Bawumia Mahama consoleThe helicopter crash, which occurred, claimed eight lives and left several others injured. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, with authorities pledging to ensure a thorough probe.

Dr. Bawumia also paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, calling them patriotic men and women who dedicated their lives to safeguarding the peace and security of our country when he visited Mahama to console him.

He urged Ghanaians to stand united in mourning and to offer support to the families affected, stressing that such moments should bring the nation closer.

Dr. Bawumia’s visit is being viewed as a demonstration of unity and compassion beyond political lines, with many Ghanaians praising the gesture as a reminder that, in times of tragedy, national solidarity must come first.

Among the deceased were Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Samuel Sarpong, Deputy Director-General of NADMO Samuel Aboagye, and three members of the Ghana Air Force — Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Tsum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.

However, President John Dramani Mahama has pledged a thorough and transparent investigation into the tragic helicopter tragedy that claimed the lives of eight individuals.

He admitted that the crash represents a deeply personal loss, noting his close ties to many of the victims.
