The Ghana Armed Forces helicopter has reportedly crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, with initial information suggesting that some passengers sustained injuries.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, but details remain limited as emergency response teams rush to the scene.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash or disclosed the full list of those on board.

The Ghana Armed Forces and other relevant agencies are expected to provide official updates as the investigation unfolds.

The Assembly Member for the area, Matthew Baah, confirmed the incident in an interview on Accra-based Adom FM. He explained that he was working on his farm when he received a distress call.

He said “After the crash, everything went silent. Residents who rushed to the scene found the helicopter in flames.”

Initial observations suggest that four people may have been on board, as dismembered body parts were recovered from the crash site.

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, an incident happened when the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter made an emergency landing at Bonsukrom, a town near Agona Nkwanta, in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.

It is unclear yet what caused the forced landing.

According to a resident, the helicopter hovered over the area for some time in an attempt to find a suitable site for an emergency landing, but lost its balance and crashed into nearby trees.

The aircraft was lying some 20 metres from the Bonsukrom road.

The Military said the helicopter had on board 21 passengers, made up of staff of the Ghana National Gas Company and aircrew.

They were said to be “Conducting routine offshore powerline inspection of the Atuabo Gas plant when the incident occurred.”
