Esi Sekyiwaa Taylor Larbi, a 37-year-old Ghanaian woman, appeals to the public and benevolent organisations for urgent financial support to undergo critical medical evaluation and treatment in India.

Diagnosed with a combination of serious health conditions, including hepatomegaly with Grade 2 fatty changes, H. pylori infection, sleep apnea, and urinary incontinence, her doctors have recommended immediate and thorough medical attention abroad.

Ms. Taylor Larbi’s condition requires advanced diagnostic procedures that are currently unavailable or unaffordable within Ghana’s healthcare system.

According to medical advice, she needs to undergo a series of specialised investigations, including an endoscopy, MRI, routine blood tests, a surgical profile, and other related evaluations. These preliminary examinations, to be done on an outpatient basis, are estimated to cost between $2,000 and $3,000.

Potential treatment costs could reach $25,000

Should her doctors in India recommend treatment following the initial assessments, Ms. Taylor Larbi may require further medical management or surgery.

In that case, the cost of care could escalate to between $20,000 and $25,000, depending on the outcome of the diagnostic procedures.

Hospital officials in India have indicated that a more precise figure will be available after clinical evaluation is completed. The anticipated duration of her stay in India is approximately one month.

Accommodation and support expenses

In addition to the medical expenses, Ms. Taylor Larbi will incur costs for accommodation and food.

She will be accompanied by a caregiver, and together they are expected to spend around $1,000 over a 20-day period on basic sustenance and lodging.

This brings the total financial requirement for the trip to between $23,000 and $29,000, depending on the final medical plan.

An appeal to the public and philanthropists

Ms. Taylor Larbi and her family are calling on philanthropic individuals, corporate bodies, civil society organisations, and the general public to help raise the funds needed to give her a chance at life-saving medical care.

“This situation is not just about finances—it’s about survival and quality of life,” a family spokesperson said.

“She is a vibrant, kind-hearted woman who deserves the opportunity to recover and live a healthy life. We are pleading with anyone who can help to come to her aid.”

Contributions of any amount can make a difference. Details for financial support, including bank account and mobile money information, will be provided upon request or in follow-up communications.
