The Law Students’ Union (LSU) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has honoured former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman of Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, for his inspirational leadership and unwavering support to students.

The recognition came during the LSU’s 20th Anniversary celebration held over the weekend at the Longford Event Centre in Kumasi.

In a ceremony filled with admiration and gratitude, the union presented a citation to COKA, celebrating him as a “consummate leader” and “benevolent pillar of support.”

“With utmost reverence and profound gratitude, the Law Students’ Union of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) presents this citation to celebrate an extraordinary statesman,” the citation read, hailing his generosity and example-driven approach to leadership.

The LSU praised COKA not just for his moral guidance but also for his material contributions, particularly his donation of the Longford Event Centre, which has become a significant venue for their events and initiatives.

“Your gracious offer of the Longford Event Centre, freely and without hesitation, provided not just a venue, but a dignified space where dreams were nurtured, ideas came alive, and excellence was celebrated,” the statement added.

COKA’s financial assistance, according to the union, has also played a crucial role in sustaining their activities.

“Beyond the gift of space, your generous financial support, consistent counsel, and visionary policy guidance have been a bedrock upon which the Union has stood tall in this season,” the citation noted.

The honour, signed by LSU President Evans Osei-Bonsu, was presented to Mr. Appiah at the dinner event on June 27, 2025. The union expressed their profound appreciation, stating that his legacy is now indelibly part of the LSU’s history.

The ceremony was attended by student leaders, faculty members, and alumni, all of whom echoed the sentiments of gratitude and lauded COKA for being a steady mentor in a time when students increasingly seek real-life guidance beyond academic instruction.
