On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the Ghana Police Service arrested another suspect in connection with the robbery and brutal murder of mobile money vendor Christopher Ahordor in Aflao, Volta Region, on April 28, 2025.

The latest suspect, Happy Sewordor, aged 65, is reportedly the father of Michael Sewordor, one of the six individuals arrested earlier in the high-profile Aflao robbery and murder case. This new arrest brings the total number of suspects in custody to eight.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Danku, Head of the Volta Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, law enforcement officers recovered several weapons and illegal substances during a search of Happy Sewordor’s residence in Aflao. The confiscated items included:

  • Four single-barrel cap guns
  • One locally manufactured pistol
  • Fourteen AAA and one BB empty cartridges
  • Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (marijuana)
  • Substances believed to be tramadol

DSP Danku indicated that the suspect allegedly obtained these items from a property linked to his son, Michael Sewordor. Happy Sewordor is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

Earlier, on May 12, 2025, the police anti-armed robbery unit in Accra arrested three additional suspects—Hadi Sulley (22), Ewe Abraham (25), and Eric Dordzinu (25)—in relation to the same case. These individuals were transferred to the Volta Regional Police Command for further processing.

Other suspects already in police remand include Korku Agboda, Utsuku Onyeso, and Michael Sewordor. One suspect, Atsu Agbagla, has been granted police inquiry bail as investigations continue.

This case has drawn widespread attention due to the increasing incidents of mobile money vendor attacks in Ghana, and authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
