Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has officially returned to Ghana after completing a period of medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
Her return marks the end of a medical leave that began after she experienced a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025.
She initially sought medical care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) before continuing with specialised treatment overseas in the UK.
President John Dramani Mahama, during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in Dodowa, Greater Accra Region, on Friday, May 16, 2025, confirmed that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang had made a full recovery and would be resuming her duties as Vice President.

President Mahama expressed his relief and appreciation for the successful outcome of her treatment.
According to official reports, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s condition was stabilised shortly after her admission to UGMC, where medical professionals recommended further evaluation abroad.
Her time in the United Kingdom was focused on ensuring a complete recovery under the supervision of a team of international specialists.
Now back in Ghana, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang is expected to fully resume her governmental responsibilities in the coming days, reinforcing the leadership team of the Mahama administration.
Her return has been welcomed by citizens, party officials, and the general public, who have expressed gratitude for her recovery and optimism about her return to public service.
