Preliminary investigations indicate that a group of young men, armed with a weapon, attacked and robbed several victims. Upon responding to the scene, the Police—with assistance from members of the public—apprehended two suspects, Moses Kwame Helu and Jonathan Osabutey.

Subsequent intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Robert Amekudzi and a juvenile (whose name is withheld), who were found in possession of the stolen backpack and Dell laptop with its charger.

Further investigations resulted in the arrest of Bernard Dzumador and another juvenile (name also withheld), who were found with the stolen iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung A03 Core.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 23, 2025, and signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Region, the Police confirmed that all seven suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. They will be arraigned before court in due course.

On February 26, 2025, the Tema Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery of a businessman.

One of the suspects, Karim Fatao, was apprehended on the same day of the robbery, while the second suspect, Wonder Babanawo, who had been on the police wanted list for multiple robberies in Ashaiman and parts of Tema, was arrested on March 29, 2025.

A search on the suspects led to the retrieval of a Ruger pistol loaded with fifteen rounds of ammunition, 30 mobile phone covers, six SIM cards, a Samsung tablet, three copies of land indenture, and a quantity of dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.

Karim Fatao was arraigned before the court on March 3, 2025, and was remanded into police custody. His alleged accomplice, Wonder Babanawo, remains in police custody and is expected to be put before the court to face prosecution.
