The Dansoman Circuit Court has adjourned to August 13, 2025, the hearing of an alleged $50,000 fraud case involving popular Ghanaian actor Samuel Seth Karikari, known widely as Koo Ofori.

The adjournment followed a request by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, the lead prosecutor, who informed the court that the investigative disclosures had not been filed due to the assigned investigator being indisposed.

Presiding Judge El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit granted the adjournment to allow time for the prosecution to prepare for a Case Management Conference (CMC).

Koo Ofori, famed for his role in the Efiewura television series, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of defrauding by false pretences.

He is currently on GH¢320,000 bail with three sureties, all of which must be justified.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, Dr. Emy Oduro-Burton, a U.S.-based medical practitioner, was approached by the accused in 2021 regarding the purchase of a parcel of land in Spintex, Accra.

Karikari allegedly told the complainant the land, measuring 70×100 feet, was being sold for $50,000 (approx. GH¢309,000). Dr. Oduro-Burton transferred the full amount to his bank account for the purchase.

However, investigations revealed that the accused only paid GH¢170,000 to one Kwaku Danso, a witness and the rightful landowner.

Upon returning to Ghana, the complainant discovered the land was only a half plot valued at GH¢170,000—not what had been promised.

After repeated efforts to recover her funds failed, she reported the matter to the police.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have admitted the offence in his caution statement, according to the prosecution.

The case is expected to continue on August 13, 2025.
