2024 UNGA: 2 KNUST scientists to showcase Ghana’s Research Excellence

Two distinguished scientists from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will represent Ghana at the prestigious United Nations General Assembly Science Summit in New York on September 19, 2024.

Professor Alexander Yaw Debrah, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, and Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Batsa Debrah, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Microbiology, will join global experts to address pressing scientific challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Professor Debrah will present on “North-South Research Collaboration for Achieving SDG Target 3: Healthy Lives and Well-Being” highlighting Ghana’s success in combating lymphatic filariasis through innovative mobile reporting systems.

Dr. Debrah will moderate Session B, “The Future of Researchers’ Global Health Careers in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities,” focusing on overcoming obstacles faced by early-career researchers in resource-limited settings.

The Science Summit aims to promote international collaboration, showcase cutting-edge research, and advance discussions on critical global issues, including climate action, One Health, artificial intelligence, biodiversity, and clean energy.

This participation underscores KNUST’s commitment to research excellence and Ghana’s growing influence in global scientific discourse.
