Ghana coach Otto Addo has recalled defender Alidu Seidu and forward Fatawu Issahaku to the Black Stars squad for the decisive 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic (CAR) and Comoros later this month.

Seidu, who missed the last international window after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, returns to full fitness and is expected to bolster Ghana’s defensive options.

Leicester City winger Fatawu Issahaku also makes his comeback after recovering from a long-term layoff that sidelined him for most of last season.

The squad announcement, released on Thursday, features 24 players, including two debutants: Prince Owusu, the in-form Medeama SC midfielder who has been a standout in the Ghana Premier League this season, and Kojo Peprah Oppong of French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

Peprah, who joined Nice in the summer, has impressed with consistent performances and scored his first goal for the French club, earning a call-up to the national team.

Owusu’s dynamism and eye-catching start to the domestic campaign have also been rewarded with a maiden Black Stars invitation.

Core of regulars retained

Despite the new inclusions, Addo has kept faith with his experienced regulars. Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, defender Alexander Djiku, midfield generals Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus, and captain Jordan Ayew all make the list.

The Black Stars will face CAR on October 8 at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco before hosting Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 12 in their final qualifier.

Ghana currently leads Group I with 19 points, three clear of their closest challengers.

The team needs just four points from the last two fixtures to book a place at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The return of Seidu and Fatawu, coupled with the fresh energy of Owusu and Peprah, is expected to provide the Black Stars with the right blend of experience and youth as they aim to secure a fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage.
