The Ministry of Education has announced the release of school placements for candidates who sat for this year’s 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Out of the total 603,328 candidates, 590,309 qualified for placement into Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and Technical and Vocational Institutions (TVIs).
Dr Clement Abass Apaak, Deputy Minister of Education, made this known during a press briefing in Accra.
He said 483,800 candidates, representing 82%, had been automatically placed, whereas 107,509 candidates could not be matched with their initial school choices due to high demand for certain Category A schools.
Dr Apaak said the placement exercise covered 724 public SHSs/SHTSs, 233 TVIs, and 70 private SHSs.
He added that they had set up resolution centres at the district, regional, and national levels to address placement-related concerns.
Dr Apaak cautioned parents and guardians against paying money to any individual, whether a Ministry official or a third party, for placement.
He said anyone soliciting payment should be reported to the nearest police station or to the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
“As a nation, we must acknowledge that while access to secondary education is expanding, the demand for certain top-tier schools remains higher than their available capacity.”
“It is therefore important that we manage expectations and, more importantly, work together to strengthen all schools. Every Ghanaian child deserves quality education, no matter where they are placed,” he added.
The Ministry of Education on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 0800 hours release schools placement for this year’s BECE candidates.
Meanwhile, the students are expected to report to campus to commence their studies between October 18 and 20, 2025.
All qualified candidates who were not automatically placed are encouraged to log onto the system and select from schools with available vacancies.
A notice, addressed to all regional directors of education, confirmed that the 2025 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) results are now available.
The circular emphasised that admissions must strictly follow the placement list generated by the CSSPS Secretariat. No school is allowed to admit students outside the official placement without prior written approval from GES.
Additionally, heads of schools have been directed to ensure a smooth registration process in line with the provided guidelines.
The statement further warned that any infractions, including unauthorised admissions, will attract the necessary administrative sanctions.
Here is how students, parents, and guardians can check the SHS placement for their wards.
